Beautiful Osoyoos B.C. , Canada , is the site of the

Observatory B&B

Jack and Alice Newton invite you to share

out-of-this-world hospitality and

Bed & Breakfast with a difference!

Our beautiful astronomy-theme Bed & Breakfast offers superb views, not only of nearby Lake Osoyoos and the charming town below, but of the clear heavens above. A stay with us includes (weather permitting, of course), an introductory tour of the night skies through a 16-inch computer-controlled telescope housed in our roof-top observatory and morning observing of the Sun through H-alpha filters. Your tour guide is world-renowned amateur astronomer Jack Newton, who has traveled the world speaking to thousands of "kids" from 8 to 80 about our marvelous universe. Caution: his enthusiasm is infectious!

            Guest Dining Room

Guests can enjoy the comforts of our home simply for its out-of-this-world views from our sunny patios or may wish to book optional additional time for expert instruction in general astronomy, including astro-imaging. (See the "Be a Star" information on the "Guest Activities page on this site.) A rental telescope is also available at a reasonable additional charge to allow guests to spend extra time enjoying the spectacular night skies.

The Observatory B&B is only a few hundred feet east of the scenic viewpoint on Anarchist Mountain . Perched 1,600 feet above the valley floor, it offers breathtaking vistas of the lake, valley and quaint town. Birding and wildlife viewing from our vantage point is an ever-changing treat!

Area Attractions include golfing and superb wine touring. Osoyoos has been dubbed the " Napa (or Palm Springs ) of the North", and offers a wide range of wineries and orchards. Families can enjoy boating, fishing, water-skiing, or swimming in Canada 's warmest lake. Other popular activities at our doorstep include biking, hiking, horseback riding and even gold panning! The Desert Centre offers a fascinating glimpse into the flora and fauna unique to Canada 's only pocket desert. The Nk'Mip Cultural Centre has daily tours and programs focusing on the land, the legends and the aboriginal people of the area.

There are a number of excellent restaurants within a 10-minute drive from our B&B. These include Campo Marina, the Diamond Steak & Seafood Restaurant, and the Wildfire Grill. The world-class Burrowing Owl Restaurant is also in the nearby area.
